Haverty Furniture declared a special dividend of $1 per common share, following multiple special payouts and increases to regular dividends in recent years.
The home furnishings retailer will pay the special dividend and regular 30-cent common stock dividend together on Dec. 13 to stockholders of record at Nov. 28.
Shares rose 0.8% after hours, to $29.15.
A year ago, Haverty declared a $1 special dividend. The company said in May that an increase to its quarterly dividend from 28 cents reflected its long-term outlook and strong financial position.
Haverty said Nov. 1 that third-quarter earnings declined as comparable-store sales declined 20.7%. It said “the macro-environment is challenging, and we are cautious in our near-term expectations.”
